Khichri-An, Unsung Hero Among Indian Recipes

Constipation is a common ailment these days. It is a disease that occurs due to the weak digestive system of the body. Further the unhealthy diet and the consumption of junk foods, alcohol, aerated drinks and along with caffeine rich beverages are responsible for the cause of constipation. The person suffering from constipation actually understands the pain and discomfort caused by it. Generally people who are victims of the ailment do not even want to discuss about it. But actually, there are certain natural remedies for constipation which are helpful in curing the ailment from its roots. The best part is that these natural remedies for constipation are free from harmful side effects and can be applied at home itself.

Naans are made using dough made of refined flour with a leavening agent of some sort. Some use fermented dough, others may use yeast and few people mix active yoghurt into the dough. The end result however, is the same - the dough must rise. Naans vary in size from a few inches across to a monster I've personally had the pleasure of demolishing, which was a little more than 1.5 feet in diameter. Typically Naan's are cooked in the tandoor though an Desi Ghee oven does the job too. Coal however, desi cow ghee a2 delivers a flavor that cannot be matched by a conventional oven.



Beauty- A paste of turmeric, sandalwood and water can be used all over the body and face. You can use the raw turmeric here and grind it to make the paste. This leaves a glow on the skin. A paste using Ambehalad, a variety of turmeric, is very effective in healing acne, pimples etc. A pinch of turmeric added to any cream or facepacks also gives excellent results. It can also be applied to any unsightly scars, spots and marks on the face and body.

The stuffed paratha starts out as a Roti rolled out, in the centre of which is placed a dollop of stuffing (spiced, mashed boiled potatoes, cauliflour etc). The Roti is then picked up by the edges, sealed (by pressing together) and then rolled out again. This is then cooked the same way as a Paratha. Typically it is served crisp, with yoghurt (sometimes whipped) with pickles. An idea after-paratha drink is sweet, milky tea.

Stir the onions continuously for uniform browning. When they become light brown, drain them on kitchen paper. Keep them aside. They will get nice crispy as they cool down.

Method : Heat oil in a wok and add jeera let it splutter. Add spinach and cook till the water in it dries.Mix in the cottage cheese, white pepper and salt. Cook for another minute, let it cool and make the rolls.
